The Player (1992)

Directed by Robert Altman, based on Michael Tolkin’s novel. A studio executive, played by Tim Robbins, is being blackmailed by a writer whose script he rejected - but which one? This plot is written on a backdrop of sleazy Hollywood deals and several subplots involving the politics of the industry, loaded with Hollywood insider jokes.

I find it one of the best movies ever made about movies. We start with an incredible long “one-shot” showing us all the different characters on the studio lot talking - e.g. about the best long opening shots of all time while Robert Altman skillfully is showing you one. Then we see Tim Robbins in his office with famous film posters around him (who’s titles later always fit in the right situation). Tim is excellent as studio executive, Griffin Mill, the way he talks, thinks or orders water (you’ll get it if you watch it). What I loved about “The Player” is not only the original idea and the hilarious script but also, to find and name all the famous cameos. I’m not gonna give away much, but this film is absolutely worth watching!

The Lion King (1994)

Disney knows how to make animated movies for the whole family and this one is very special to me. The first scene already makes this film wonderful. AHHHH tszebenda!

Me and brother would watch the cassette over and over again. I know every single song and the story is pretty cool too (inspired by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet). Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the voice of little Simba and Matthew Broderick for adult Simba.

Won 2 Oscars

Plot:

A young lion prince is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the “Circle of Life”.

Girl, Interrupted (1999)

this movies is not only so fantastic because of Angelina (though she gives her best performance ever) this movie shows the inside of a mental hospital, full of crazy woman!

Plot:

Susanna is rushed to the hospital. Afterwards she discusses this with a psychiatrist. She had been having some delusions. She had also been having an affair with the husband of her parents’ friend. The doctor suggests that combining a bottle of aspirin and a bottle of vodka was a suicide attempt. This she denies. He recommends a short period of rest at Claymoore. Claymoore is a private mental hospital full of noisy, crazy people. Georgina is a pathological liar. Polly has been badly scarred by fire. Daisy won’t eat in the presence of other people. Lisa is a sociopath, the biggest exasperation for the staff - like Nurse Valerie - and the biggest influence on the other girls in the hospital. Lisa has a history of escapes, so gaining access to personal medical files is not a problem… Susanna’s boyfriend Toby is concerned that she seems too comfortable living with her institutionalized friends…
