Say what you want, this is one of the best movies of the 90s. A Hollywood self-mocking film. The original idea was transformed pretty well and the fact that they took Arnold for the leading role, makes this movie just better/funnier. My favorite scenes are the ones with F. Murray Abraham and the little boy, Austin O’Brien, when he says he killed Mozart (Murray played Salieri in “Amadeus”). Anthony Quinn, who pronounces everything wrong and Charles Dance, who corrects him and is the real “Bad Guy” in the film. All this great character make an enjoyable movie for everyone. Later in the film we also see lots of cameos like Schwarzeneggers wife Maria Shriver, John Belushi or Chevy Chase.
Young Danny Madigan is a big fan of Jack Slater, a larger-than-life action hero played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a magic ticket to the new Jack Slater film, Danny is transported into Slater’s world, where the good guys always win. One of Slater’s enemies, Benedict the hitman, gets hold of the ticket and ends up in Danny’s world, where he realises that if he can kill Schwarzenegger, Slater will be no more. Slater and Danny must travel back and stop him.
I loved everything about this movie. I know its not a very accurate biography of Mozart, but if you want an entertaining, humorously and emotional movie with of course a great soundtrack, this ones perfect!
Mozart was a genius and this movie is more of a celebration of his art he created like no one else.
Won 8 Oscars
Antonio Salieri believes that Mozart’s music is divine. He wishes he was himself as good a musician as Mozart so that he can praise the Lord through composing. But he can’t understand why God favored Mozart, such a vulgar creature, to be his instrument. Salieri’s envy has made him an enemy of God whose greatness was evident in Mozart. He is set to take revenge.
