Crash (2004)

Out of Sight (1998)

A career bank robber busts out of jail (Clooney) with the help of his buddy (Rhames) and kidnaps a US Marshal (Lopez) in the process. When the two cons head for Detroit to pull off their final big scam, the Marshal is put on their case but she finds she is attracted to one of them and has second thoughts about bringing them in. Clooney and Lopez have actual, undeniable chemistry on the screen. The supporting players (especially Don Cheadle) are perfectly cast, Soderbergh effortlessly knocks this one out of the park.

Colors (1988)

An experienced cop, Duvall, and his rookie partner, Penn, patrol the streets of East Los Angeles while trying to keep the gang violence under control. An interesting film directing by Dennis Hopper, that shows Gangs vs. Gangs vs. Police - through the eyes of two police officers, in an authentic way. Here and there we see some clichés, but thanks to the great performances by Sean Penn and Robert Duvall, you don’t mind them. Don Cheadle and Trinidad Silva lead a good supporting cast of “Gangster”.

The Rat Pack (1998)

First I wasn’t sure, if this film would be good. But actually it is. I also learned fascinating new things about Sinatra and co. The story is focusing heavily on their relationship with the Kennedy’s. The cast, well decide yourself if they were the best choice, but the acting is very good. Ray Liotta as Sinatra, Don Cheadle as Sammy Davis Jr. (won Golden Globe) and Joe Mantegna as Dean Martin.

Plot:

In the 1950’s and 1960’s Frank Sinatra was the head of the infamous “Rat Pack”. He, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop worked and played together. This film dramatizes their volatile relationships with each other and the Kennedys, Marilyn Monroe, mobster Sam Giancano, Judith Cambell and the FBI. Sinatra helps John Kennedy get elected in 1960 with a little help from Giancano. Lawford, married to a Kennedy, is an unhappy go-between. Davis is fighting racism and insecurity. Cambell is sleeping with both Giancano and JFK who is also sleeping with Monroe.

Boogie Nights (1997)

The story of a young man’s adventures in the Californian pornography industry of the 1970s and 1980s. With Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, John C Reilly and Burt Reynolds. Mr. Reynolds and Walhberg are great in this film. The felling of the 70s is very well captured by Paul Thomas Anderson. Its just a fun movie to watch, with original characters and good dialogs (you will be surprised of how many actors in this film are established actors by now).

Plot:

Everyone’s born with one special thing, and Eddie Adams uses his humongous “asset” to take the world of film pornography by storm. Things get ugly though when success leads to drugs and ruin. Will Dirk clean up and get back on top? Will Amber see her son? Will Rollergirl ever take off her skates?!
